Month-End Close and TB Tie-Out Kit

Tie out the trial balance and run the close from one workbook.

Paste your trial balances, map each account once, and the workbook ties out sub-ledgers, flags flux, tracks reconciliations and builds the management pack. Every check shows PASS or FAIL.

Who it is for

  • Controllers and finance managers closing 1 to 10 entities in Excel.
  • Outsourced accounting firms who close several clients each month, under the Practice licence.
  • Teams that want every close check visible in one file, without buying close software.

Who it is not for

  • Groups that need intercompany eliminations in the close file (see the consolidation workbook).
  • Teams already running a close platform with workflow and approvals.
  • Ledgers that export period movements only: the workbook needs closing (year-to-date) balances.
  • Anyone who wants us to do the close: this is a tool you run.

Questions

Does it need macros?
No. Every calculation is a formula you can trace. There is no VBA in the file.
Which Excel versions does it work in?
It is built without macros or dynamic-array functions and tested in Excel 365 for Windows. The Excel 2019, Mac and Google Sheets checks are listed on the How we test page as they are completed.
What format does my trial balance need?
Closing (year-to-date) balances, one row per entity and account, with debit and credit columns as most ledgers export them. Add the Period and Entity columns, then paste. A trial balance of period movements gives a wrong month P&L, so export closing balances.
Does it eliminate intercompany balances?
No. Version 1.0 adds entities together. Eliminations are in the consolidation workbook.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. The workbook runs on your computer. We never see your ledger.
Why not ask an AI assistant to build a close file?
You can, and you then need to check what it built. This workbook is the checked version: the same formulas in every file, every check visible, and each release tested against an independent recompute before it ships.
What does the licence allow?
Excel: one named user, for their own organisation. Team: up to 10 named users in one organisation, for its own work. Practice: up to 5 named users in one accounting firm, for any number of clients. You may give completed files to your auditors and reviewers. Outputs you create are yours.
How do updates work?
When we release an update, it is free within the same major version for as long as we sell it. You get an email and download it from your library.
What if it does not work for me?
Ask within 14 days of purchase for a full refund, for any reason.

Who built it
